Today the kids put on a singing and dancing show for me. Lily did a fabulous version of “Bringing Home a Baby Bumblebee”, and Dawit sang “Twinkle, Twinkle” in Dawit-ish:

Thank goodness for my sharp interpretation and charades skills. I can understand most anything Dawit says to us in his own version of English and wild hand signals.

Dawit has created some adorable terms as he learns English. He’s learning most of it from Lily and books. His favorite book is If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, a story about a mouse and chocolate chip cookie. Now all cookies are Mouse Cookies.
