It started with this picture. Actually, we started on the road to adoption long before we saw this photo, but we thought we were on our way to China to adopt a little girl. We were a family of 3, always knowing that there was room for more.
With a bit of intervention from the universe, not only did we not go to China, but went instead to Ethiopia to bring home Dawit. (Da-weet)
We’ve had a smooth transition to a family of four, and the greatest joy I’ve found in the process has been to watch the love develop between our kids. He is a remarkable little boy, and despite the incredible loss in his life, he is the happiest person I know.
We are in contact with Dawit’s father, who still lives in Ethiopia. While I recognize that many people are curious as to this adoption situation, Dawit’s history is his to share someday, if he should choose.
We started this blog to document our travels to Ethiopia as well as introduce the newest member of our family to relatives and friends, and now we’ll continue to update general family life here.
