Grandma is coming!

The kids will be out of school early today to go to the airport and pickup Grandma. She’s staying for almost a week!

John and I are off to NYC for a couple of days of Red Dress events.

Woman’s Day Debut

The magazine is almost on newsstands.  If you subscribe to Woman’s Day, you probably already have it.  If not, you can pick it up on January 22.  It has a red cover with heart-shaped cookies.  It’s dated February 12.  The magazine is a great supporter of the Red Dress movement, raising awareness about women and heart disease.
There’s a big photo of me, Dawit, and Lily in the Red Dress section.  And if you’re wondering why Dawit has that ridiculously gigantic grin on his face, I’ll share the secret with you:  he has his hand creeping up under the back of my dress, threatening to “hit my butt”.   He had the entire crew from photographer to stylists cracking up.

One of Dawit’s favorite things to do is to wrestle with his sister and his dad.  I don’t usually participate,  but I did listen last night.  Here is a sample of Dawit’s fighting language:

“Show me what ya got”

“You want a piece of me?”

“You think so, eh?”

“Ohhh, you’re going down!”

“I can take him.  Let me at ’em”

“Heeee-yaw!”  (backwards!)

Dawit’s first snowman

They worked all afternoon on him.  Willow (our dog) is convinced that a small white man has invaded her yard.

We spent most of our vacation from school in our pyjamas.  The kids got along great, we played with new toys and board games.  They are so excited to get back to school today, and I’m actually going to miss them!
